Ten Useful Spanish Post Office Services

Your local Post Office offers plenty of useful and cheap services, both at physical offices as well as online. Here’s ten of interest for anyone living in Spain.

Personalised Stamps

You can design your own stamps with a photo or logo via Correos “TuSello” service; choose from 15 panoramic or 25 classic stamps. You can also select the postage amount for national or international delivery.

Prices are composed of the service charge and the face value of the stamps; discounts are available when you order 2 or more sheets.

When you send your design or photo to Correos via their website they have the right to reject it. If this happens you’ll get a full refund. Once your order is accepted you won’t be able to make any changes to the design.

Eco-Friendly Boxes and Envelopes

No more time wasted searching for a box as the Post Office sells their own Caja Verde range in different sizes:

  • Semi-rigid and padded envelopes
  • Rectangular boxes in four sizes: small to extra large
  • Boxes for 1 or 2 bottles
  • Trapezium-shaped boxes

The advantage of using these boxes is that they are both eco-friendly and reinforced. Prices for national postage start at less than 4€ for a small box.

Holiday Service

If you’ve ever returned from your holiday to find that rainwater has got into your letter box and your favourite magazine is soaking wet, then you’ll probably be interested in the “Buzón de Vacaciones” (Holiday Letter Box) service.

Your local post office will keep all your post for the time you’re away. Minimum service is one week, maximum 14 weeks. Choose whether to pick up from time to time throughout the contracted period, at the end of the service or ask for the post to be delivered.

Prices are 12.75€ for the first week and 6.50€ for each additional week for a maximum of six people at the same address.

Travelling by Train? Try Correos Luggage Service

When you buy a Renfe ticket (AVE or long distance trains) you can send up to three items of luggage including bikes, golf clubs or skis. The weight limit for each item is 25 kg and it normally takes two days for the items to be delivered. You can arrange for your items to be collected up to four days before you travel and you don’t have to send them to the same destination as shown on your ticket.

Check prices with Renfe, including discounts for additional packages.

Correos also offers a dedicated service for transporting backpacks for people traveling on the Camino de Santiago.

Stamp Collecting

Not just stamps, but first day covers, coins and more. Take a look at the online catalogues for details of items available.

Prepaid MasterCard

Prepaid cards are an easy way to avoid problems with fraudulent use of a normal Visa or MasterCard and are a good option for paying online. Check our post for more prepaid card options.

Immediate Document Delivery to the Spanish Public Administration

If you need to send documentation to the Spanish Public Administration, at the Post Office they will scan the pages, officially register the document and send it electronically during your visit.

Prices are based on the number of pages scanned and your location.

Legal Burofax Online Service

The burofax online service is valid for pdf documents only. If registered before 13:00h, delivery takes places the same day to major Spanish towns and cities. For later registrations your document will be delivered the next day. International delivery is also available, times vary by country.

There is a fixed price per service plus an additional amount per page and type of service required.

CityPaq

If you’re fed up of waiting for couriers to deliver parcels when shopping online, consider using a CityPaq locker. Available across Spain (except Canary Islands) at:

  • Train and metro stations
  • Supermarkets and shopping centres
  • Petrol stations
  • Large housing communities

Check online for a location near you.

Vehicle Eco-label

Most Spanish registered vehicles should have an eco-label (except for older vehicles). In several cities the labels are mandatory in order to park or enter the city on days when pollution levels are high.

If you don’t have one, take your vehicle permit (licencia de circulación), your photo ID and pay 5€ at Correos or upload your docs online. The label will take around one week to arrive.
