A Lowcost Courier Option in Spain With Added Services
Many people still tend to think of courier services as being only for businesses and therefore only use Correos in Spain (or the Royal Mail in the UK). However at Money Saver Spain we’re always looking out for those lowcost options that add innovations in their field – check out what Citibox can offer you.
Citibox offers a FedEx or UPS tracked and insured parcel system, but at attractive rates that you can see on their English or Spanish language websites. You can get an instant quote in seconds without having to put in your personal info, so you can get an idea of the cost which is around 50% of that of other couriers and less than the postal services for parcels to the UK. What’s more, it’s a door-to-door service so no more queuing at the post office. They can and do export and import parcels and urgent documents anywhere in the world.
Courier Spain also offers the possibility to send your luggage with their specialised service as well – so no more worrying whether the airline is going to lose it. Given that lowcost airlines charge more and more for your suitcase (ever tried going away for 15 days with only hand luggage?) and exorbitant rates per kilo if you’re over their weight limits, then this option becomes really interesting. Also you’ll need to factor in the comfort of having your suitcase picked up at home and delivered to your hotel, be first in the car hire queue and no more having to wait at the airport carousel as everyone else picks up their suitcases and yours has been sent on a gap year world tour!
Additionally, one of the things that we’ve seen on their site that we like is that you can have a personal UK registered address, receive deliveries there (eg from UK e-commerce sites that don’t deliver abroad) and then get your items delivered to Spain. You can read about their UK Address in Spain service, where prices are clearly stated. We think this is a great idea if you’d like to buy on eBay UK or get an online bargain.
When we spoke with Citibox, they told us that one of their most important features, apart from price, is their personal service. In other words you won’t be put through an impersonal call centre if you want to check up on what they have to offer. Additionally as expert handlers, they’re able to advise you in English on import/export requirements when using their services, so no more finding your Correos sent parcel held up in customs for weeks.
Hence, it’s time to change the paradigm – long gone are the days when only companies could afford to use couriers; these days people send all sorts of stuff such as suitcases, skis, surfboards, bikes and spare parts. You can get a 5€ money off voucher when you register on their site (find the offer on the right-hand-side of the home page). Remember that quotes cover only the mainland and the Balearics so if you’re interested in their service to the Canary Islands you’ll have to get in touch.
Why not try Courier Spain the next time you need to send a parcel, we’re quite sure that you’ll not be visiting Correos again in a long time!
