Free WiFi in many Spanish cities and towns

If you’re just looking for occasional Internet connection in places such as Malaga, Seville, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca and many more, check out “WiFiMas”. They offer 30 minutes free connection per day and have cheap tariffs if you need to connect for longer. Where’s the catch?

We have to admit that the coverage isn’t city-wide but we reckon it’s enough to suit most needs. For example, in Madrid there are over 50 points and in Malaga around 40. Their original business model offers Wi-Fi connection based on locations at a number of strategic points around the cities and towns, which are nearly always newspaper kiosks. Given the number of bars and cafeterias in Spain, we’re sure that you won’t have to stand outside near a kiosk getting hot in the summer or cold in the winter – just find one near to one of the places offering the service. Additionally in Madrid they’ve started offering the service on the municipal buses.

The info on their website is available in Spanish and English and their tariffs are as follows:

  • Free 30 minutes per day
  • 5€ for 24 hours
  • 10€ per month – however sign up for a year and you’ll get the monthly tariff for only 8€

(All prices include sales tax)

You can pay online using your credit card or by PayPal and the company states that the contract is “hassle free” and can be cancelled at any time.

New cities and towns are to be added in the future, so if they don’t cover where you live now, send them an e-mail suggesting your town.
