Buying Homeware in Spain
There are many international stores that have entered the Spanish market over the last couple of years to compete with national independent and chain stores. Whether online or in store, this increased competition has led to lower prices and more aggressive offers. We’ve selected some below, with information about promos and how to get money-off vouchers.
Argos in Spain has a large selection of items, with over 8000 products available. Delivery cost is 9.95€ regardless of the size of your order, however they only currently deliver to mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands. Although they don’t offer the full range of items which can be found on their UK website, their prices are very competitive (all priced in Euros) and they offer a 30 day money back guarantee.
Many people rave about Joseph Joseph products, take a look at their website which has prices in euros. Delivery is free to Spain (mainland & Islands) for orders over 50€ – we suggest that if you don’t reach that threshold, check if any friends or neighbours need anything and make a single joint order.
Take a look at their outlet for reduced items; stocks are limited so remember to check again a few weeks later. Remember that Joseph Joseph also sells some of their products at El Corte Ingles stores and specialist shops in Spain.
When visiting Ikea‘s website, you’ll have to choose from one of three sites: Spanish Mainland, Balearics or Canary Islands. On your chosen homepage you’ll see ads regarding their latest offers common to all stores and remember that getting an Ikea Family Card is always a good idea, as this will give you additional discounts on lots of items. You can get a Family Card on your next visit from one of their self-service terminals in store (or request one online) to use immediately. Choosing the page for your nearest store will give you a list of store-specific offers.
Ikea stores tend to attract many independent transport “companies”, however with an Ikea Family Card transportation of your purchases is available at a special rate (need to check rates locally). Additionally for a fee Ikea will take your old mattress or sofa and dispose of it correctly.
Ikea have also introduced a helpline in English as well as Spanish – see “Pregúntale a Anna” on the lower left hand side of the homepage.
If you subscribe to the Casa Shops newsletter, you’ll get a voucher for 5€ off your next purchase over 25€ in store – however, don’t register until you need to use it, as it’s only valid for around 2 months. Although you can visit their website in English, the catalogue is only available in Spanish.
Howards Storage World
Not many bricks & mortar stores yet in Spain, but this Australian company has some great ideas for, you guessed it, storage. So, until a store opens near you, take a look at their online catalogue with nearly 1000 products all of which can be ordered online. Delivery costs depend on the size of your order and periodically they have free delivery promos.
Currently Howards Storage World only delivers to the Spanish Mainland and Balearics.
